It’s March already? It’s March already! I almost never say this, but this winter has gone by so quickly! (Maybe this is the first time I’ve ever said that. I have the 70 degree February day to thank.)
Life has been busy. I’ve spent a lot of time at work, the gym, and with my family and friends. This is what 2017 has been like so far:
Turns out early morning workouts are theeeeee best, especially on Mondays and when you want to take mirror gym selfies. I normally work out after work but it’s super refreshing to avoid the after work rush sometimes.
I joined an eight-week fitness challenge that will end next week. I. LOVED. IT! I only lost a few pounds, but my goal was to learn new ways to exercise and eat healthy and both of those goals were accomplished so I’m happy about it. I’ve had to track all my food (#OverIt), so I’m excited for that to be over soon. I hope to share more about the program’s diet.
Right before this picture we went to a craft fair and ate tacos. That, my friends, is the good life.
My friend Victoria visited me in January, and I visited her in February! She’s one of my best friends from college, and I’ve only seen her a total of four times after college.
I got to visit with my friend Allison one more time before her baby comes! I’m so thankful for the ease of conversation, hilarious memories and for the way she listens and cares so well.
This squad was established in the ’90s. #SJpartyof4
I am humbled and blessed by many of my friends, old and new. I’m excited for more good times with the people I love.
Per usual, I’m finding myself excited about some new stuff going on!
I’m listening to:
Chris Stapleton – Nobody To Blame. OK, I am feeling a bit hypocritical because I was the girl hatingggg on Chris at the recent CMAs but then I heard this song and instantly liked it. You win, Chris. Literally.
Luke Bryan and Karen Fairchild – Home Alone Tonight. I have honestly been Little Big Town’s biggest fan since their first album (proof: I had a volkswagen beetle shaped CD PLAYER where I would play their album “The Road To Here” every morning while I got ready for school.) So when my man Luke released a song with LBT’s Karen, I was instantly a fan.
Sam Hunt – Break Up In A Small Town. I had heard this song many times but one day VERY early in the morning, I was driving to work and heard that “she was over me before the grass grew back where she used to park her car” and I was all, wow I looooove this songggg.
Winter gear, yay! Boots, scarves, vests. You know, the cute winter stuff that is the top reason why winter is OK after all. My name is Sarah and I love winter fashion.
Rules of Engagement, Switched at Birth, Grey’s Anatomy (Megan and I are almost caught up!!!!), and the Bachelor (which is going to be a Monday night party at my place!).
#GirlBoss and I have to admit that Sophia Amoruso is not my current role model but hey I’m still reading about her youth so my opinion might change. I started this book in October and I don’t think I touched it in November or December so January seemed like a good time to pick it back up. I’m also reading the book of Hebrews (from the Bible) with my church and I just finished reading Matthew (from the Bible) on my own.
In my free-time I am:
Exercising || Blogging || Smashbooking || Attending concerts || Reading || Spending time with my friends || Pinteresting my friends’ weddings
Today is my three year blogiversary with WordPress! My little blog was called “This Is My Year” at the time. I have to admit that 2013 was one kickin’ year, which included a trip to Italy, my 21st birthday (but that’s another story), living in two amazing housing situations; special weddings AND graduation from college.
Pre-story! I actually had a cutie-little blog, All About Cteve, which was launched my sophomore year of college; I ended that blog mainly because I ran out of free photo space on that page (I’m Dutch, need I say more?!).
I didn’t want to be vain, though, and knowing I was coming off of an amazing high which was college, I figured it would be a bit unrealistic to call 2014 “[This Is] My Year,” too, so I went with the general “sideshow” and have decided to stick with that name, for the time being at least.
When I fell in love with Gym (see what I did there?), I cut back on the #bloglyfe BIG TIME. But I missed blogging, and I still enjoy blogging, and I’m not ready to give up blogging. That being said, my posts are indeed fewer and farther between, but I also don’t intend for them to stop anytime soon. How’s that for vague?
So I will continue with my little life blog. Stay tuned for whatever I want to share, whether it’s health tips or silly stories and fashion or songs or some new gig I may get into some day.
Since this is a sentimental post already, here was my 2015 best nine (left to right and then top to bottom) Meeting Love & Theft | Becoming an Auntie | Time with my family | Time with my TRIO | Florida vacation | Visits from Brittany | Quality cousin time | Having a group of “local friends” | Summer memories including Allison’s visit and baseball games.
I am finding myself in a place where I feel that I deeply and truly have so many things to be thankful for.
I’m thankful that we had a nice and long mild fall.
I’m thankful for my friends; for their willingness to drive to meet up, and for those who are very close by.
I’m thankful for my church and my small group, and for the friendship and encouragement I receive from them.
I’m thankful for my awesome family and for their consistency in my life.
I’m thankful for my roommate; for her positive spirit, grounded heart, and genuine friendship.
I’m thankful for my job; for the fun I have in the workplace, for the satisfaction of hard work and for the people I get to work with.
I’m thankful for my health; for the things I learn and apply about diet and exercise, and for the joy it brings in my life.
I’m thankful for America; for its beauty and vastness and for those who have served and are serving to protect its people.
I’m thankful for amazing grace and for the salvation I have received through Christ alone.
I’m thankful for Thanksgiving Day; a time where America stops to dwell on the good things in life. For a day to gather together and eat and enjoy the company of others.

I have so many fond memories of growing up among my seven cousins. Due in part to our shared lake home in Northern Wisconsin, we created bonds and shared many good times. I was the youngest, which meant I had a slew of role models, play mates and even chauffeurs by age six!
Maybe what’s even more special is the closeness we still share today. I hear from many of my cousins on a regular basis. We have gone to each other for advice, taken trips together, and even stood up in each others’ weddings.
Kasey is the second-to-youngest cousin. The two of us spent last Saturday together. Oh how I so loved our one-on-one time together!
Our time together wasn’t technically one-on-one though, as the Little Baby she is carrying was so evidently with us as well!
Here’s to the beautiful fall leaves, semi-sketchy alleys (but who were those weird guys who walked by?) and quality time with my dear cousin.
Visiting Katie was one of the best weekends of this whole year! I always love spending quality time with Katie and Kara. I think we had a good balance of outings and time in; just being together was enjoyable regardless of where we were.
Katie was an amazing hostess and trip planner. She opened her home (and lots of bags of snacks) to ensure Kara and I maximized our vacation time.
Love this picture of my adorable blonde friends lovin’ life (and coffee)!
Kara and I visited Katie in Washington, D.C. last weekend. We had an amazing time! The vacation’s goal was to spend quality time together, and we definitely nailed it.
Our trip officially began when Kara and I arrived at our airport. We had pizza for lunch and we each bought a book to read during our flight.
Kara and I each bought books that were perfect for us! I’m loving #GIRLBOSS so far and Kara said Yes Please is great, too!
We had a good laugh when the woman who sold us our books asked us, “Why are you buying books? Aren’t you going to talk to each other?” We laughed and said, “We’re gonna be spending a LOT of time together over the next few days.”
