I spent the weekend at my family’s cabin, which is an excellent place for reflecting, remembering, and giving thanks. Besides humble gratitude, I don’t have many words to express my thankfulness to those who have made significant sacrifices for the freedoms Americans enjoy every day.
I’m not sure that “HAPPY Memorial Day” should be the phrase we use so carelessly on a day like today. Beyond happy wishes and good barbecue, my hope is that we take a moment to give thanks or send up a prayer. And may we remember our freedoms and those who have made sacrifices for many days beyond today.
